MAXIMIZING THE THERAPEUTIC RELATIONSHIP

MAXIMIZING THE THERAPEUTIC RELATIONSHIP

Friday, May 10, 2024 (9:00 AM - 4:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

Have you ever faced a client who keeps saying “I tried that.” “That won’t work.” Or “I’ll never be able to do that.” Are you confronted by consistent client turnover with these clients? These are the clients who present as resistant to mental health interventions and often quit therapy before making any real progress. As counselors, we are all challenged with difficult clients at times and find it problematic to make real progress. Attunement is our ability to be aware of and respond to our client’s needs; to be able to sense their rhythm, affect, and experience well enough to make a lasting connection. This workshop will provide an overview of the neurological processes of attunement, demonstrate how to maximize your attunement skills, and provide an opportunity for you to practice neurologically informed attunement with fellow participants.
