Description
In this program, the therapist will present and educate professional peers about depression and suicidality in children and youth. Depression will be identified and described, as well as effects and disorders related to it, with inclusion of DSM-5 criteria. Specific signs of depression in children and youth will be presented and discussed. Current data and statistics that reflect the prevalence and persistence of depression and/or suicidality in children and youth will further be provided and explained. Ways of preventing depression and suicidality in children and youth will be described, as well as supportive treatments, activities, and outlets for clients coping with them. A case example will be discussed. Various resources for evaluating depression and suicidality in children and youth will be provided and discussed. References and links for resources and other borrowed information will also be shared. This workshop is approved for 3 CORE hours.
