Prerequisite: Licensed in GA as an LPC for a MINIMUM of 3 years prior to attending this training. Time as an APC/restricted license does not count towards the 3 years.

This comprehensive 30-hour training program is designed for Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC) seeking approval as Certified Professional Counselor Supervisors (CPCS).

The CPCS credential is a mark of distinction for LPC’s who are committed to developing the next generation of counselors. With 100 hours of clinical supervision required for licensure, the CPCS certification is crucial in bridging the gap in a field facing a shortage of qualified clinical supervisors.

Developed in alignment with state guidelines and best practices, the course provides an in-depth exploration of supervision across five critical areas of competency—each offering 6 CE hours:

  • Monday: Foundations of Supervision. Gain a solid understanding of the history, roles, and core functions of supervision, along with key developmental stages of supervisees and essential supervisor competencies.
  • Tuesday: Documentation, Methods & Models. Learn best practices for documentation and explore diverse supervisory methods and models, including how to structure effective supervision contracts and maintain ethical, legally-sound records.
  • Wednesday: Legal & Ethical Issues. Deepen your knowledge of ethical standards, legal responsibilities, board rules, and licensure-related issues that affect both supervisors and supervisees. Emphasis is placed on managing risk and navigating complex dilemmas.
  • Thursday: TeleSupervision. As remote supervision becomes more widespread, this section equips you with the skills to conduct supervision via video, phone, and other digital platforms—covering technology use, ethical and legal concerns, and virtual best practices.
  • Friday: Applications & Principles of Supervision. Translate theory into practice by developing key supervisory skills, applying evidence-based strategies, and working through real-world scenarios and challenges in supervision.

Participants will leave with the competencies required to provide high-quality, ethical, and legally compliant supervision. Completing this program fulfills the 30-hour CPCS supervision training requirement to obtain the CPCS credential.

After the training, you are required to complete the CPCS application, pay the application fee of $175, upload your CE documentation from this training, and pass the CPCS certification exam to earn your credential through CCALP. Instructions and links to complete the certification process with CCALP will be provided at the end of the training.
