About
I have a history of working with abused and homeless children and their families. I have had certifications in TF-CBT, CBT, DBT, and extensive work with personality disorders. My experience includes working with abused youth and adults, which includes sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse, coercive control, neglect, domestic violence, and substance abuse. I have worked in this field for over twenty years.
I worked in Atlanta at a private non-profit organization during my internship serving abused and homeless teenagers. I was hired as a therapist full time upon completion of my degree. I worked my way up in the organization to Clinical Director. My team and I were responsible for creating a new treatment program for abused and homeless teenagers and incorporating their families when possible. This program became so popular within the community we were able to secure enough funding to build a 24 bed residential treatment facility.
The State of Georgia became interested in the program and offered me a consultant's position to help with the organization of a similar program for the treatment of youth in the Fulton County Emergency Shelter and group home.
I married and started a family. I decided to discontinue working for the next several years to raise a family.
I began working again in 2010 at Blue Ridge Psychological Services, LLC., working with children and families.
I started an interest in forensic mental health due to the number of mental health issues I saw in children experiencing divorce in their lives. I am now a certified forensic mental health evaluator, a certified child custody evaluator, and a certified professional counselor supervisor.
