About
Adriana was born in Havana, Cuba, soon after the island came under communist rule. She came to the US with her family in the early 1960s. She grew up in the US, but also lived in Central and South America, as well as in Germany. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Religion from Baylor University and her master’s degree in Counseling from Boston University and has also completed 21 post masters graduate hours in Psychology.
With over 30 years experience as a counselor, educator, and consultant, Adriana has administered programs in churches, K-12 schools, and higher education, as well as in military and mental health settings. She has practiced as a mental health therapist and mental health clinical administrator in private practice, educational, behavioral-health, military, counseling, and psychiatric, and addiction residential and in-patient programs.
Adriana specializes in helping her clients develop a sense of purpose, integrity, and joy so that they may live a value congruent life. She respects every client’s values and beliefs and helps her clients utilize their strengths, and resources including their faith and spirituality, to bring about the change and growth they desire. Her therapeutic modalities are grounded in attachment theory, interpersonal neurobiology, and include clinical trauma therapies.
