Initial Certification Option: 

Hosted by LPCA, This Summit will help you meet the requirements to become a CPCS. The CPCS Training Summit is geared toward providing the education and credentialing to become a Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor. The 5 day training is not for those seeking to renew their current certification. Please select the renewal registration if you are renewing. Prerequisites for the CPCS: If you used your Masters degree to get your LPC you must wait THREE (3) years to supervise.

CPCS Renewal Option 1 - General Track:

Join us for the CPCS Certification Renewal Training as part of our annual Certification Summit. This comprehensive training is designed to ensure that our Certified Professional Counselor Supervisors stay current with best practices, ethical guidelines, and emerging topics in the field.

Training Schedule:

  • Dates: Monday and Tuesday (9/16/2024 - 9/17/2024)
  • Duration: 6 hours of Ethics and 6 hours of Special Topics (TBD)

Training Details:

Ethics Training (6 hours): Our Ethics training session will cover the latest updates and critical issues in counseling ethics. Participants will engage in interactive discussions, case studies, and practical applications to reinforce their ethical decision-making skills. Key topics include confidentiality, dual relationships, informed consent, and professional boundaries.

Special Topics Training (6 hours): The Special Topics session will delve into emerging areas of interest and importance in the counseling field. While the specific topics are yet to be determined, participants can expect sessions led by experts in various specialized fields, ensuring a well-rounded and insightful experience.

CPCS Renewal Option 2 - Tele-supervisor Certification and CPCS Renewal:

This workshop offers a comprehensive exploration of the nuances, challenges, and complex issues surrounding supervision in the digital age. The training is designed for those seeking to renew their current CPCS certification and earn a new telesupervision certification.

Training Schedule:

  • Dates: September 19-20
  • Duration: 7 hours on Day 1 and 6 hours on Day 2

Training Details:

Day 1 (7 hours):

Introduction to Telesupervision: Participants will be introduced to the foundational concepts of telesupervision, including its benefits and potential challenges. 

This training will provide practical guidance on maintaining clinical best practices while conducting supervision via distance communication formats. Participants will learn strategies to effectively manage the supervision process, ensuring that clinical standards are upheld.

GA Ethics and Rules Training (1 hour): This session will cover Georgia-specific ethics and rules relevant to telesupervision. Participants will gain a thorough understanding of state laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines to ensure compliance and best practices in their supervisory roles.

Day 2 (6 hours):

Advanced Topics in Telesupervision: Participants will delve into more advanced topics in telesupervision, such as securing supervisee compliance with ethical practice guidelines. The workshop will address gaps in knowledge and skills, resource insufficiencies, motivational challenges, and structural inadequacies in managing ethical dilemmas and the ethical decision-making process. Further exploration of common challenges in telesupervision, with practical solutions and strategies to enhance the supervisory relationship and ensure ethical compliance.

Time

This training is a 5 day training that will start at 9 am and end at 4:30 pm for each of the 5 days.
