Recognizing Trauma in Our Community (2.50 CORE)

November 16, 2024 10:00 AM - 12:45 PM (EST)

Description

This program discusses the benefits of acknowledging trauma in our community. Many clients who begin therapy express responses to stressful events which can lead to chronic symptoms and are likely to be results of trauma-related experiences. Clients or therapists who are not aware of the impacts of trauma may overlook important components to include in the client’s overall treatment. The need for trauma assessment encourages therapists to assess the history of trauma in their client's both past and present and include specific goals in therapy which helps to alleviate unhealthy responses to life changes and stressors in the future, preventing prolonged chronic symptoms. The approach for trauma interventions helps those who have experienced trauma understand that the experience does not have to negatively impact their future.
